First week of teaching practice

FIRST WEEK (04/01/2022-07/01/2022)

 The teaching practice of 2020 – 2022 B Ed batch of Sree Narayana Training College, Nedunganda, Varkala, started from 04/01/2022 Monday.  I choose GMHSS , Varkala for teaching practice.I had gone with 11 peers.Nayana , Akash(maths), Darsana, Pooja, Sreelekshmi,Umalekehmi( physical science), Aswany,Sreekutty,Aswathy,Archana Devi( Malayalam) are the student teachers in Varkala school for teaching practice.

We were all reached at school in time. School time is arranged from 9:30AM to 12:30 PM under Covid 19 protocol. There always two students to distribute sanitizer to students and teachers before entering the school. Because of this pandemic situation, only half of students in each class comes to school in a day. The school time is divided into 4 periods each day in which the first period is from 9:30AM to 10:10AM.

The school was allotted a special staffroom for us to sit. Our concerned teachers gave us proper instructions before entering the class .

I got 8A and 9H for teaching practice. In the first day second period I got the chance to interact with 8A students . I ask them about their details such as Name, place ,ambition hobbies etc..After that I started my lesson plan . It was my first teaching experience in life. I was observed by my peer teachers  Akash Sir and Nayana teacher in the first day of the teaching practice.

I introduced the concept quadrilaterals using chart models of quadrilaterals.After the first class my confidence level increased and my tension decreased.

After the school time of high school students, all of us engaged into food distribution to students. It was such a great experience to me.

In this day we got the chance to observe the SPC pared .Jisa teacher gave us snacks and we took selfie with Jisa teacher.

In the second day first period I got the chance to interact with 9H students.I got the opportunity to teach them the unit Circles. I consulted my concerned teacher of Mathematics and he verified and signed my lesson template and teaching aids before entering the class.

In the third day I had no class to teach so I went to peer observation. I got two class in this day for observation. I went to standard 9D for peer observation of the teacher Nayana P G in third period.In fourth period I went to standard 9G for peer observation of the teacher Akash D S. That was another experience for me as an observer of the class of my peers. I got a chance there to observe and evaluate their attitude towards teaching, their classroom management methods etc…

In the last day of the week I implemented Concept attainment model in my classroom 9 H for teaching the concept chord of a circle.I started my class by showing examples and nonexamples of chord of a circle.Students were very active in the classroom and they observed the examples and nonexamples carefully.Unexpectedly a student came forward and said the term chord .Then all the students were tried to define the term chord. After that students drew the examples of chord in their notebook. I am very glad that the students understood the concept very well.

In the last day of this week I got a chance to invigilate an examination for the class 7D.It was a different experience for me. In friday we were participated in the municipality level inaugural function of Hello World programme.

In this week I completed three lesson plan.I also did two peer observation classes.I successfully completed first week of my teaching practice.
